Challenging Orbs

Wow, what a great challenge Laura put before us this week!  Using "orbs" as your inspiration, tangle away!  Orbs, circles, spheres... however you call them, they are symbolic of so very, very much.  Many disparate peoples around the globe use them in their cultures to symbolically represent wholeness, completeness, fecundity, femininity, nourishment, community, isolation, congregation; the list goes on endlessly.  I think my tangle ended up reflecting the complexity I found when considering this challenge.  What do you think?

Happy Wednesday!

  2. This is a really beautiful tangle. I love what you said about the orb. It is true....I always think of the circle as "one eternal round". Thank you for sharing your inspiration and your beautiful art!

  5. This is toooooo beautiful!! Agree with Sue Clark about the power of the negative spaces. I particularly like the two orbs near the top - the one on the right that is just enough off-center so as to present a sense of dimensionality, and the ruffled effect of the tangle on the left.

I keep thinking I need to make a sample book of tangles I like and want to learn. This challenge has really opened my eyes to the infinite range of possibilities for beautiful tangling!

Thanks for you nice comment on my blog ;-)

  6. What nice things you all say! Thank you! The top left orb is surrounded by a tangle designed by my buddy, Ruth - "Organza Pleated Ruffle". Isn't it pretty?
